What I Like About This Product:
I was all set to buy the Hornady AR-Gun Locker and then I found this one. While this one does not have RFID technology like the Hornady, it has a great silent keypad that works first time, every time. This locker can be mounted under your bed or in a vertical format. Since I like the verticle format, I purchased the verticle bundle for $379. There are many things that swayed me to the Secure-It Fast Box Model 47 gun locker:
This locker is 5 inches taller than the Hornady which means more storage space above my long guns. I have a Mossberg 500 (18.5″ barrel) and an AR-15 in this gun locker which leaves plenty of room for the small bin that came with the verticle set-up to be placed at the top of the gun locker.
The Hornady locker comes with a foam cut-out to store your two guns while the Store-It locker has an adjustable barrel cradle system that keeps your long guns where you want them. And they have a bungee cord that goes around the barrel to keep them in place. There is also a stock base plate that secures both guns in place.
I mentioned the small bin that came with the verticle bundle and it has a small divider in the bin which can hold two handguns or one handgun and a couple of magazines. All of that really meets my needs.
What I Would Change About This Product:
I like this Secure-It Fast Box Model 47 so much, there is not very much that I would change. Although there are two things that I added to my fast box: 1) I added a small piece of wood on the bottom of the small yellow bin which extended out 2″ on one side and acted as a small shelf to hold my AR magazines. Then I covered it with felt to make it scratch-proof. It works great! 2) I also placed a small motion sensor light that runs off of 3-AAA batteries on the inside top of the fast box. Now when I open the door the light comes on and displays all that is in there.
Final Remarks:
This Secure-It Fast Box 47 is an awesome gun locker that works using an electronic keypad that is battery-operated. It also has a key that will open the door in case the battery dies. In addition to the Model 47, they also have a Model 40 that is 40″ long and is designed to be placed in a vehicle for secure and fast access when you need it.
The main reason I purchased this gun locker was to keep my instant access firearms secure from my grandson but completely accessible to me if I need them. This gun locker fits in my bedroom closet and gives me quick access to my first line of defense instantly. Does it hold all my guns, absolutely not, the rest of them are stored safely in another room? But I feel it is important to have your firearms in more than one place in your home.
Now you may be asking the question, Does this item fit with your Everyday Carry website, and my answer is yes! It is every gun owner’s responsibility to keep his or her firearms safe and secure. The days of keeping your lever action 30-30 or a shotgun hung on the wall or tossing your handgun+ in a drawer are over. If you disagree, leave a comment below.
